The position will be responsible for collaborating with prestigious OEM customers on new designs, making improvements to existing designs and managing new product introductions. Functions also include processing, detailing, designing, and quoting with a focus on developing and analyzing product costs by working closely with customers and MMF production specialists.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Experience with Pro/E, 6-Sigma, and sheet metal fabrication is a plus. Candidates should have strong initiative, team problem solving, and communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment, clearly communicate technical information with both factory and management personnel.

The Associate Engineer in the Advanced Technology group will be responsible for the coordination of test support hardware including the preparation and instrumentation of new engines, oversight of prototype engine configurations and supplier interface. Test cell support and test plan execution is included. Testing support will include:
  • Combustion system evaluations (piston bowl and nozzle match optimization
  • Air system evaluations (turbocharger match evaluations, EGR system sizing, volumetric efficiency optimization)
  • Interaction with build teams to ensure timely build progression and accuracy
  • External technical/engineering contractor support/interaction
  • External mechanical support interaction
  • Responsible for job processes both formal and informal, some layout and computer graphics, test requests, basic plotting, basic engineering skills, task oriented. Must learn the Company and the way business is conducted.

The Team Leader, Mechanics manages those who schedule and facilitate all Engineering Operations planned work including materials control & logistics, and receiving and process quality control and coordination of all prototype engine builds.. Manages those who schedule, stage, monitor and coordinate the use of Engineering Operations human and physical assets and materials to ensure the effective and efficient execution of Build/Test plans provided by the Technical Team and ensures the optimal utilization of resources. Supervises and directs the non-routine activities of the technicians.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the scheduling, materials control & logistics, and inspection processes and activities of Engineering Operations within a program planned event. Schedules, stages, monitors and coordinates the use of Engineering Operations human and physical assets and materials to ensure the effective and efficient execution of Build/Test plans provided by the Technical Team and ensures the optimal utilization of resources.
  • Coordinates engineering engine component movement and storage utilizing manpower and equipment to furnish the best component parts service to all internal and external customer.
  • Establishes a structure and process that ensures accurate and timely component delivery. Promotes the proper use of the component management database /operating system(s) to ensure that they meet the current and future needs of the engineering organization. Manages engineering component receiving, component movement thru inspection, storage (stores) and delivery to engineering operations through an organizational structure. Continuously improves engine component movement, storage and delivery. Ensures resources to provide and develop supplier quality engineering services.
  • Coordinates efforts of quality engineers and inspectors, store room attendants, expeditors, schedulers, skilled trades and instrumentation technicians both represented and un-represented. Interacts with represented workforce consistent with bargaining agreements and the business needs of International, and maintains relationships with union representatives.
  • Facilitates the efficient operation and utilization of Quality & Logistics Team employees and equipment. Assesses and assigns Quality & Logistics Team resources across programs based upon program needs. Challenges program resources estimates and usage that are inconsistent with best practice estimates and assists in solution generation to achieve optimal staffing. Pursues best practices in the field of prototype assembly. Develops streamlined processes to ensure optimal output of these activities.
  • Researches, develops and promulgates the use of best practices, processes and technology. Provides input into consideration, evaluation, and selection of physical assets and capital improvement projects. Supports implementation.
  • Manage the Engineering Operations cell utilization and tracking databases that report outputs.
  • Manage the Engineering Operations Avantis Pro database for test cell technicians, keeping system up to date and current.
  • Develop new practices to accommodate future technology development hardware and processes.
  • React to the time sensitive last minute demands of Engineering programs.
  • Maintain a flexible and creative approach to accomplishing the needs of Engineering requests that accommodate dynamic non-standard activities.
  • Function with limited documentation and decision support.
  • Provide support and direction for off-shift work.
  • Facilitate the efficient operation and utilization of Engineering Operations employees and equipment

  • Experience in managing a vehicle repair facility with all facets of heavy-duty on road vehicles up to Class Eight tractors.
