Carl J. Spezia, Assistant Professor Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology Program (EET), Adjunct Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
Carl joined the EET program in1998 and became an adjunct professor in ECE in 2005. He worked as a power systems engineer for electric utilities for eight years prior to seeking a career in higher education. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois. His industrial assignments included power system modeling, power systems protection, and substation design. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. from SIUC in 1991 and 2002 respectively. He teaches courses in electric power and machinery (EET 332A EET 332B), industrial automation (EET 438A, EET 438B) and electric circuits (EET 304A, EET 304B). In ECE, he acts as a design team faculty technical advisor on power systems design projects conducted in the senior design course (ECE 495). His research interests include power systems economics, power markets, and electric energy management.
