First SIU Intelligent Systems Exposition (SIUIS)
The student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at Southern
Illinois University Carbondale in collaboration with Association of Computing
Machinery (ACM) chapter and Global Aviation Organization (GAO) organized The
First SIU exposition on Intelligent Systems (SIUIS) on March 31 - April 1,
2006.
The exposition started with a Career Correspondence on Friday morning followed by a reception in honor of the many representatives
from industry that participated in the event. In the evening there was a poster
competition in which several seniors and grad students competed with poster
presentations of their research at SIUC. The exposition included several
technical seminars ranging from the latest technology in field of chip design
to open source software development. On Saturday evening the exposition concluded
with a panel discussion on the future of Intelligent Systems. The exposition
was well attended over the period of two days by students, staff and faculty of
ECE, CS, Aviation and IT Departments.
SIUIS received financial support from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the College of Engineering. The
event was also supported by Department of Aviation, Computer Science and Materials Technology Center.
