New Textbook By Dr. Nazeih Botros
Dr. Nazeih Botros, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, is the author
of a new textbook entitled “HDL Programming Fundamentals – VHDL and Verilog,” published
by Da Vinci Engineering Press.
Abstract: Advances in semiconductor technology continue to increase the power
and complexity of devices. Such devices include computers, robotic systems, artificial neural networks, and
biological mechanisms. To design such devices by manual means is all but impossible. Hardware Description
Language (HDL) is an essential tool that offers designers an efficient way for simulating, automating,
and synthesizing the design of such devices on an electronic chip. HDL describes the device in a programmable
language style. The book teaches the two major hardware languages: VHDL and Verilog. Both of these
languages are widely used in industry and academia. The book includes numerous examples and projects. This
book is intended for students in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science. |
