B.O.N.M.G. Competition   (Bridge Over No Man's Gorge)
American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

The contestant will design and construct a bridge using plastic straws to withstand the greatest load.  Score will be equal to the weight that your bridge withstands.  Pictures
 

RULES:
1. Participants may only use those materials provided: 30 plastic straws, scissors.

2. Time allowed for project completion is one hour.

3. Bridge must be able to span a gorge of 20 inches.

4. Bridge must be standing free (i.e., may not be fixed to the cliffs in any manner).

5. Load will be applied on the bridge at the center of the gorge (10 inches from the cliff's edge).

6. Bridges will be evaluated at time of submittal.
