Gold Panning Saluki Miners

RULES:

1)  A judge will provide each contestant with 1 pound of sand containing five simulated gold nuggets.

2)  The judge will call “Start” for a contestant to begin panning. 

3)  When a contestant has found all five nuggets, or knows that some of the nuggets were lost, the contestant will call "Time."  It is the contestant's responsibility to let the judge know that he/she has finished the event. 

4)  There is a five minute maximum time allowance for each contestant.  Each contestant must find all five nuggets or empty his/her gold pan looking for the pieces before calling "Time."

5)  For each nugget not found, a penalty of 2 minutes will be added to the total time for the contestant.

6)  The lowest net time will determine the winning contestant
