Vie de la Resistance
Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
Contestants will be timed while ranking 10 resistors based on the resistor color code value.
RULES:
1. Six students break into 3 pairs and sit at 3 tables.
2. Each student puts both hands on a photo switching circuit to indicate they’re ready.
3. They take their hands off the switch; lift a box that has 10 resistors under it.
4. Students begin sorting from left to right: Least Ohmic to Greatest Ohmic value.
5. Once the student feels they have the correct arrangement, they put both their hands back on the photo switch.
6. A maximum of 9 minutes will be allowed per contestant.
7. Students will be scored based on time values. Fastest time wins.
Lifting your hands starts a timer, putting your hands back down stops the timer…this will indicate the amount of time each it took each student to complete the task. If for some reason there is a tie; the finalists will enter “Making the Cut”
1. A box of straight wire will be presented.
2. Use snipping pliers to cut the insulation off each edge to .5 inch (+/- .125 inch)
3. Three minutes will be allotted for the competition.
4. The person with the most wires cut to specification wins.
