Robotic Challenge American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)

Competitors will utilize a small robot (Microbot TCM) controlled by a hand-held keypad to place an aluminum cylinder into the center of an aluminum "doughnut," and avoid disturbing the location of the "doughnut."  Pictures

RULES:
1.  Each contestant will be given a 60 second practice run in order to become acquainted with the controls.

2.  An aluminum "doughnut" (3" diameter, 1" thick, with 1" diameter hole in the center) will be placed on a target at a specified location on the table.  An aluminum cylinder (4" long, 1" diameter) will be placed at a different location on the table.  Using the robot, contestants will have to pick up the aluminum cylinder and place it into the center of the aluminum "doughnut."

3.  If the "doughnut" is moved from the target during the contest, a penalty of 15 seconds will be added for every ¼ inch that the "doughnut" is moved.

4.  This is a timed event, and the contestant with the fastest time will be the winner.

5.  The maximum time allowed to each competitor, excluding the 1 minute practice, will be 4 minutes.

6.  The robot must remain on the table at all times and must be started in the same position for each trial.
