Homework A.  (15 points) Use of the EPA Resources and AP-42.

Use your browser to access http://www.epa.gov/ttn/chief/ap42/index.html and proceed to pull up AP-42, Chapter 11--Mineral Products Industry.  While you are there, look around the Table of Contents to see what types of industries EPA has Emission Factors for.
Then down load a copy of section 11.3-- Bricks and Related Clay Products.  Downloading and reading with Adobe Acrobat Reader or opening in MS Word will give you a better quality than the web version below.

1.  In 100 words or less describe how bricks are made.

2.  List the major sources of emissions for Total PM, PM2.5, SO2.

3.  For a 10,000 ton per year brick plant what are the total PM emissions in lb per year?

4.  Discuss briefly why there is so little PM2.5 from sources other than combustion.
