Ning weng (nweng@siu.edu) is a full professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China, in 1996. He also received an M.S degree from University of Central Florida, Orlando, in 2000 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 2005, all in electrical and computer engineering.

Dr. Weng is engaged in research and teaching in the areas of computer networks, computer architecture, and embedded systems. His research interests include scalable system design for deep packet inspection and many-field packet classification, quality of information modeling and scheduling for wireless sensor networks. The results of his work have been published in 60 peer-reviewed conference, book chapters and journal papers. His research lab has graduated 4 Ph.D. and 12 M.S. students. At Southern Illinois University, he has received three times for Outstanding Teacher Award of the department of electrical and computer engineering.

Dr. Weng has been active as program committee member of several professional conferences, including IEEE INFOCOM and ACM SAC. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access.  Dr. Weng is a senior member of IEEE since 2012.
