Brief biography

Currently, I am serving as an associate professor in the School of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering in Southern Illinois University. I was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Princeton University from February 2014 to January 2016. I received the PhD degree in electrical engineering from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the University of Alberta under the supervision of Prof. Chintha Tellambura and Prof. Masoud Ardakani. My PhD thesis was based on research in design and analysis of wireless transmission strategies for cooperative relay networks. My current research interests include intelligent reconfigurable surfaces, massive MIMO systems, millimeter-wave communications, physical layer security, heterogeneous wireless systems, cognitive radios, simultaneous wireless information and power transmission, and deep-learning based physical-layer communication designs.

Dr. Baduge is the recipient of Early Career Faculty Excellence Award in 2021 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He has been serving as an associate editor for IEEE Communication Letters, IEEE Wireless Communication Letters and IEEE Open Journal for Communications Society. He received the best editor appreciation from IEEE Communication Letters - 2020.

Prospective Graduate Student Recruitment

I am looking for several motivated PhD students to conduct research in the areas of “intelligent reconfigurable surfaces” and “deep-learning” for wireless communications at my lab starting from January, 2022. The interested students may contact me via email (please attach CV and copies of transcripts).
